About

We are the Smith family, and we live just outside Philadelphia, PA.

Matt (Daddy) was raised in NJ, and went to college in PA at Villanova University.  He graduated with his bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in 2001 and his masters in the same field a year later.  He started working for a small company called Materials, Research and Design.  In 2004 he joined the Marine Corps reserve and over the course of the next year spent two tours of duty in Iraq.  in 2007 he switched jobs and now works for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Philadelphia, PA, working on submarine life support equipment.

Jay (Mommy) grew up in the Adirondack mountains, in a small town called Plattsburgh, NY.  She also went to Villanova, and graduated with her bachelors in Chemical Engineering in 2001 and her masters in 2006 after doing grad school part time at night.  She also works for NSWC doing submarine life support, and has worked there since an internship in her junior year of college in 2000.  Jay and Matt got married in Plattsburgh on May 7th, 2005.  They enjoy travelling and have been lucky to have visited many exciting places like Greece (for our honeymoon), Sweden, and Italy.

Emily was born a month early on February 1st, 2008, and after getting off to a bit of a rough start and spending some time in hospitals as a baby, is how a happy and healthy two year old.  She loves trains and baby dolls, and loves the family dog, Tucker, very much.  She has been such a blessing to us and makes us smile all day every day.

In May of this year, we found out we are expecting again!  Emily’s new little brother or sister is due on January 29th, 2009, and we cant wait for our family to grow!
